Our clients purchased this 1840s style brownstone that had been renovated in the mid-60s. They wanted to preserve the better mid-century modern design elements, like an open stair made of steel and mahogany that runs from the ground floor up to the top level, while introducing more bright contemporary open spaces. The final product is a five-bedroom home with a large chef style kitchen, a home office, family living space and large entertaining space. A crisp pallet of natural ash flooring, white Carrara marble, chrome and white porcelain unify the design and provide a tranquil luxurious feel throughout. In addition to interior work we restored the exterior facade to meet Landmark standards and developed plans for both the rear garden and third floor roof terrace.
